Managing roles in the world of finance have come out on top in a new report predicting which jobs will be the most desirable to land in 2017.

This study comes from job search site Glassdoor - it is based on earning potential, job satisfaction, and the number of vacancies in the area.

Finance managers top the list in the UK - with median salaries of £68,000 (€79,000) and a healthy number of open posts.

In the US data scientists top the list with average income of $110,000 (€102,000) and a 4.4/5 job satisfaction rating.

The UK top ten is business heavy - with tax manager (2nd), audit manager (4th), HR manager (5th), supply chain manager (7th) all making the top ten.

Tech jobs also score highly in the job search site's report.

These are the 25 most desirable jobs according to the British data:

1. Finance manager - £68,000 (€79,000)

2. Tax manager - £59,000 (€68,500)

3. Design manager - £55,000 (€64,000)

4. Audit manager - £59,500 (€69,000)

5. HR manager - £50,000 (€58,000)

6. Data scientist - £45,000 (€52,000)

7. Supply chain manager - £53,000 (€61,500)

8. Solution architect - £65,000 (€75,500)

9. Scrum master - £55,000 (€64,000)

10. Communication manager - £47,000 (€54,500)

11. Commercial manager - £65,000 (€75,500)

12. Marketing manager - £45,000 (€52,000)

13. Operations manager - £50,000 (€58,000)

14. Risk manager - £60,000 (€70,000)

15. Site manager £45,000 (€52,000)

16. PHP developer - £34,500 (€40,000)

17. Product manager - £55,000 (€64,000)

Dr Andrew Chamberlain, of Glassdoor, said: "This report reinforces that the best jobs are highly-skilled and are staying ahead of the growing trend toward workplace automation ... The finance and tech industries are well represented on this list, both of which the UK is renowned for."
