Middle-ranking gardaí have voted to accept the Lansdowne Road agreement on pay and conditions.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) said 71% of its members backed the deal in a ballot.
The AGSI was one of a small number of representatives bodies that rejected the agreement last year.
It decided to hold a second ballot after receiving reassurances that issues around garda pay would be dealt with in a government review.
The AGSI said revised proposals presented by the government include a commitment not to implement an increment freeze and an acknowledgment that it should have direct access to future pay talks.
Government officials have also agreed “in principle” that it should have access to the Labour Relations Commission and the Labour Court, it said, and relevant legislative measures will now be drawn up to enact these provisions.
The association had previously been excluded from direct involvement in pay negotiations due to a ban on garda unions.
The AGSI said almost 70% of its 2,000 members were balloted on the agreement.
John Jacob, the AGSI’s general secretary, said inspectors and sergeants felt forced to accept the deal because of their "inability to sustain an increment freeze and the hardship it would bring".
He added that members who attended information sessions across the country last month expressed their frustration at the government’s failure to commence the pay restoration process.
Middle-ranking gardaí have seen their pay cut by 25% since 2008, according to the association.
"The AGSI must now await the outcome of the review of An Garda Síochána currently chaired by John Horgan, which will have major implications for our members," Mr Jacob said.
