A garda has been hospitalised after being stabbed in Co Galway.

Gardaí are at the scene of the incident, which happened at around 1.00pm in Oranmore.

The member of the Armed Response Unit has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A suspect has been arrested and is being detained at Mill Street garda station.
