Gardaí are making a fresh appeal for information on the whereabouts of Aengus Shanahan.

The man, who would now be aged 37, has been missing from Limerick since February 11th 2000.

Aengus, better known as 'Gussie' is the youngest in a family of four and lived with his parents Bob and Nancy - who is recently deceased - at Ashbrook, Ennis Road.

He was an employee of Dell in Castletroy, and finished work on Friday February 11th 2000.

Family or friends had not seen or heard from him over that weekend and concern grew regarding his whereabouts.

When he did not return to work on Monday February 14th that year, his family reported him as a missing person.

Gussie went to Coopers bar in St Joseph Street, Limerick with friends on that Friday afternoon.

He was due to stay that night with friends in St Joseph Street but did not do so.

It has been established that he left the bar on his own at 10.30pm and walked from there onto Old School House Lane - which connects with Barrington Street.

That is the last sighting him.

He is described as 5ft 10ins in height, of thin build, weighing 10 stone. He had a pale complexion with fair hair cut short.

His 37th birthday was on January 23rd.

"Following the passing of his mother Nancy the past few months have been extremely difficult for the Shanahan family", gardaí say.

Aengus' family and gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen Gussie - or have useful information and who have not been in contact previously - to do so now.

Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who may have seen Gussie on this Friday night or early the following morning to come forward, especially taxi drivers in the Limerick area.
