Eir is set to reduce its headcount in the coming months, it's offering voluntary redundancy to 240 staff members.

According to The Irish Times, 800 of the company's 3,300 employees will be offered the opportunity to leave the company.

This would bring the total number of jobs cut by the company in recent years to more than 2,000.

The report states that workers are set to be offered close to five weeks’ pay per year employed by the telecom company.

Eir is consulting with unions and the Department of Communications.

The company's chief executive Richard Moat has indicated that the company is aiming for an IPO at some point between now and 2020.
