A prisoner gained access to the roof
Mountjoy Prison in Dublin went into lockdown earlier after a prisoner gained access to the roof.
Prison service negotiators managed to convince him to come down.
At around 3.00pm on Friday afternoon, a prisoner gained access to the roof of Mounjoy causing the prison to go into lockdown.
The incident meant only staff were permitted to enter the prison grounds.
A prison service spokesman says negotiators worked with the prisoner to talk him down safely.
