Australian stationery chain Smiggle has announced it will open as many as 20 stores in Ireland over the next three years.
The first, youth-targeted outlet arrives in Dundrum Town Centre later this month, with a further Irish store to open in time for summer and advanced talks underway to add between two and three before Christmas.
Owned by Australian billionaire Solomon Lew's Premier Investments, Smiggle's move into Ireland will represent its first entry into the euro zone.
Smiggle describes itself as "the ultimate creators of colourful, fun, fashion-forward stationery and office supplies".
It will be aiming to capitalise on an Irish stationery market that makes as much as €338 million annually.
The chain already boasts roughly 90 outlets in the UK, having opened 26 stores there in the first half of its financial year, which ended in January.
Smiggle expects UK sales of A$200m (€142.7m) by 2019 and will add between 30 and 40 stores there this year.
Owner Premier said its Irish arrival had seen it complete a "comprehensive deep dive and in-market due diligence... identifying synergies with the existing UK business."
Commenting on Smiggle coming to the Hammerson-owned Dundrum shopping centre, Hammerson's director of Retail Ireland Simon Betty said:
"For Smiggle to choose Dundrum to debut in Ireland is a fantastic result, and is testament to the centre's strength and reputation as the gateway for international brands looking to launch in Ireland."
