Ninety new jobs are to come on stream in Cavan and Dublin.

A new €36m Lakeland Dairies facility is being opened in Bailieboro, Co Cavan.

It is among the most advanced milk powder plants in the world and one of the largest such plants in Europe.

It will see the company process over one billion litres of milk a year through this site - producing over 160,000 tonnes of milk powders.

Over 25,000 tonnes of butter will also be processed here for export to 80 countries globally.

It will 85 jobs being created by 2019.

The company currently employs over 800 people, with over 2,000 milk producers supplying milk to the co-operative.

While in Dublin, PTC Therapeutics is to create 10 new positions.

It currently employs 30 people at its European headquarters in the capital.

This New Jersey-based company specialises in the research and development of small molecule drugs to treat rare diseases.

The Dublin site is responsible for the company's finance, quality assurance, legal, HR, regulatory, commercial and supply chain management for its international markets.

Adrian Haigh heads up the firm's international operations: "Discovering drugs that alter the course of the diseases and hopefully change the lives of these patients gives our work incredible purpose.

"So, it is an exciting time to be part of this rapidly expanding company that is dedicated to research and development of unique treatments to improve the quality of life for people with rare diseases".
