"I'm heartbroken over what happened in Manchester tonight. Sending love to everyone involved," said One Direction star Harry Styles.

Late Late Show presenter James Corden paid a tribute live on his show, which was broadcast moments after the attack.

"It shocks me every time we hear this sort of news, that attacks like this can happen," he said.

"Especially when there will be so many children at this concert tonight."

Corden told the LA crowd that, although "many of you would have never heard of Manchester", it is "known all over the world for so many great things".

"But when I think of Manchester, the place that I know, I think of the spirit of the people there. And I tell you, a mopre tight knit group of people you will be pressed to find.

"We'll all got to bed, holding our little ones even tighter this evening".

Other stars from across the Atlantic sent their prayers.

Katy Perry said she would be "praying for everyone" and was "Broken hearted for the families tonight. Broken hearted for Ari. Broken hearted for the state of this world."

While singer and actress Cher said her prayers go out hers to the people of Manchester, adding that she has had "special times there".

US singer Taylor Swift, who is good friends with Grande, wrote: "My thoughts, prayers and tears for all those affected by the Manchester tragedy tonight. I'm sending all my love."
