Developer, Owen O’Callaghan is about to submit a planning application for a new 360,000 sq ft office development on Cork’s Albert Quay, involving an investment of €90m.

The development on one of the city’s central southern quays is close to another major office block, recently completed by Cleary Developments and recently sold to the property investment company, Green Reit.

This site was intended by O’ Callaghan Properties for a major event centre in Cork, but that tender was secured by a consortium involving Heineken and the construction company, BAM for the site of the old Beamish Brewery elsewhere in the city centre.

Mr O'Callaghan has described the development as a "really powerful statement" for the city - it will have the capacity to house 3,000 employees, which will help to alleviate Cork City's shortage of office space.

He previously developed Cork's Mahon Point Shopping Centre, and Opera Lane retail centre.
