The students were en route to Sacramento Adventure Camp in Tanay, Rizal, which is around 50 kms east of Manila.

According to Engineer Carlos Inofre, head of the Tanay MDRRMO "the bus was carrying students from BestLink College of the Philippines in Novaliches, Quezon City."

The bus crashed into an electric post, which caused the post to fall on the bus and crush the roof. The bus' engine also fell from the vehicle due to the impact. The bus driver was brought to hospital but later died.

Authorities have yet to release an official tally on how many students were injured. The Tanay Public Information Office estimates that around 58 passengers were on the bus.

Those injured in the crash were brought to the 2nd Infantry Division Army Station Hospital, Tanay General Hospital, and Rizal Provincial Hospital.
