Back in 2002, the Boston Globe newspaper broke one of the biggest news stories of the 21st century when they wrote a report on the Roman Catholic Church’s decades-long coverup of pedophile priests.

The report caused a huge scandal for the Church, not just in the United States, but internationally.

A new film concerning the report has been causing quite a stir at film festivals and garnering a lot of support, not just from film critics but from journalists who are happy with the fact that the story is the real story here, not the lives of the journalists.

The film is called Spotlight and will be released here in January 2016, although you will most definitely see this pop up on Oscar lists before then.

One of the film's stars, Stanley Tucci, spoke to Philip Molloy on the Picture Show this evening and detailed what it was like working on Spotlight.

He stated: "You want to be truthful to whatever character you play.

"In particular with this, you just want to get it right. He's kind of eccentric but you don't want those eccentricities to be exaggerated in any way."

Speaking about the film's director Tom McCarthy, Stanley said: "When you have someone who knows acting, it just makes it so much easier in a way. When you have a director that's that good, who has a vision, who knows the script because he wrote the script. He's lived with it for so long."

Stanley also discussed the fact that he won't be singing for the new live action Beauty and the Beast: "No I made it very clear that I couldn't sing. If they needed me to, I wouldn't be a part of it.

"That would be a perfect example of mis-casting. Luckily, I don't sing. For everyone's sake."
