We're three months into 2014 and Ireland's Shane Lowry has certainly been a busy man.

The Offaly man has played five tournaments since the turn of the year, although he has yet to break into the Top 30 in any of his European Tour events so far.

With plenty of life left in 2014, our own Joe Molloy caught up with the 26-year-old.

"My golf is where I want to be. Mentally and physically I haven't been in a great place the last while. I'm just doing a bit of training, setting some goals, doing a bit of practice. It's a bit of an all-round thing. If I can improve everything by a small percentage, I feel like the sky's the limit," said Lowry of his current state of mind.

He also spoke about the need to keep things in perspective and focusing on long-term goals when dealing with setbacks.

One of those goals is an ambition to take part in next year's Masters at Augusta.

"I want to play in the Masters this time next year which means I have to get into the Top 50 by the end of the year. I'm not setting my sights on any one given tournament this year because I have the whole year to do it," said Lowry, who reached a peak of No 52 in late 2012.

He also emphasized the need to be back playing on the US tour where the world ranking points are.

On a lighter note, Lowry told Joe that his beard might be facing the chop as soon as he wins a tournament.
