Facebook's annual F8 conference kicked off yesterday in San Francisco. This event is for the developers and continues today. Facebook use this event to provide a look ahead to what's coming next on the social media platform and this year was no different.

CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg took to the stage yesterday to deliver his keynote speech. Whilst on the stage a confident Zuckerberg laid out his vision for the future. His address was littered with swipes at Presidential candidate Donal Trump, but the message was clear: Facebook wants to connect people

"Instead of building walls, build bridges and instead of dividing people, we can help bring people together."

It's very apparent that Zuckerberg has no intention of slowing down as he unveiled an ambitious ten year plan which involves integrating other tech products and softwares and embracing new technologies.

Bots

One of the key features unveiled yesterday involves the Facebook Messenger app. Users will be able to receive personalised news and shop directly from retailers thanks to Bots. A Bot is a piece of software that automates person to person interaction. Zuckerberg gave the example of sending flowers:

"Now, if you want to send flowers you don't have to download an app, you just send a message."

Some of the other big ideas featured within the keynote included allowing drones to stream video via Facebook live and airplanes to provide Internet access.

The bottom line is that Facebook are driving to become the one-stop-shop for everything you need online.
