The golden rules for organising the perfect party have been revealed by a veteran wedding planner.

Lady Elizabeth Anson helped plan the Cambridge's Royal wedding, and her main tip is to sit the boring people together.

She says it works because they don't realise they're bores, and they're happy.

She also says the wedding invite sets the tone for the whole event, and if it's cheap, guests will imagine 'acidic wine and miserable food'.

Lady Anson says she was asked to use 'save the date' notes adorned with Swarovski crystals, but dismissed it as 'vulgarity'.
