It seems that the Tories and the DUP could be close to a deal, as a new date has been set for the opening of the UK Parliament.

The leader of Britain’s House of Commons said the state opening of Parliament will take place on June 21st.

The opening was set to take place on Monday, but was delayed due to the ongoing negotiations.

Theresa May is holding talks today with Northern Ireland 's political parties, amid warnings the expected DUP deal will undermine the peace process.

The five main Northern Ireland parties are meeting with the British Prime Minister separately at Downing Street.

Sinn Féin, the UUP, SDLP and Alliance will discuss the DUP's support for the Conservatives in Westminster.

May needs the support of the DUP to govern, after she lost her parliamentary majority in the UK election.

Foster's departure

Meanwhile, DUP leader Arlene Foster has returned to Northern Ireland, leaving DUP colleagues to continue talks with the Conservative Party.

Those remaining at the talks include the DUP's Nigel Dodds, MP for Belfast North, and Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, MP for Lagan Valley.

Among those representing the Tories are Damien Green MP and Gavin Williamson MP, Theresa May's Chief Whip.
Damien Green, the First Secretary of State and Deputy Prime Minister, has been a Member of Parliament for 20 years.
