Gardaí say three men have been arrested as part of ongoing investigations into dissident republican activity in the Cork area.

It follows the planned search of a house at Chestnut Drive, Cluain Ard, Cobh last night, shortly before 8pm.

Two guns and ammunition were discovered during the search.

The men who were arrested - aged in their 30s and 40s - are being held at Cobh and Middleton Garda stations.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
