Tesco opens new Dublin store, creating 85 jobs

Tesco Ireland has opened its newest outlet at the Airside Retail Park in Swords, north Dublin, creating 85 jobs.

Local suppliers to the store will include: Dessie Farrell Parsnip supplier from Rush, Co. Dublin; Brian Weldon, cauliflower supplier from Lusk Co. Dublin, the Foley Brothers and Alan Kelly, tomato suppliers from Rush Co. Dublin, David Rogers, onion supplier from Ballyboughal, Co. Dublin and more.

Commenting on the latest opening, Tesco Ireland CEO, Andrew Yaxley said, "We are delighted to be able to create 85 new permanent positions at our new Tesco store in Swords which is a great boost for the local community.

"The full Tesco Swords team is committed to providing customers with the best shopping experience with an extensive range of quality fresh Irish foods, many of which have been sourced locally from North County Dublin. The store layout is designed to provide an enhanced more engaging shopping experience which we hope our customers enjoy."

This brings the UK firm's total number of Irish stores to 149.

Figures from April showed its Irish market share at 21.6%, trailing SuperValu's 22.8%, and Dunne's 22.1%.
