It happened at a marina in Tarmonbarry at around 5pm this afternoon
A teenager has died in a suspected drowning at a marina on the River Shannon.
The alarm was raised at Tarmonbarry in Co Roscommon, shortly before 5pm.
The 17-year-old boy got into difficult while swimming at the marina at Harbour View.
Gardaí say emergency services and members of local sub aqua clubs assisted at the scene.
The teenager was recovered from the water a short time later, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body has been removed to the mortuary at Roscommon Hospital.
