Politicians in the North have been warned that failure to reach a deal in talks at Stormont could have a grave financial impact.

The Northern Secretary Theresa Villiers says negotiations will end today with or without agreement.

All five of the political parties there are taking part in the discussions about flags, parades, legacy issues and public finances.

On Friday, the parties made a significant breakthrough when they agreed a common position on how to handle the public finances, including welfare reform.

They have requested stg£2bn (€2.54bn) over 10 years from London.

Belfast-based security correspondent Alan Murray told Newstalk Breakfast that failure to reach a deal will affect people across the North.

Political correspondent at the Ulster Newsletter, Sam McBride, says British Prime Minister David Cameron might seal the deal by agreeing to the financial request.
