Donald Trump – and specifically how to derail his presidential campaign – was the main topic of discussion at a secretive meeting of GOP figures and the biggest names in tech over the weekend.

Apple head honcho Tim Cook, Tesla chief Elon Musk and Google co-founder Larry Page were all present at the World Forum, which took place under a Bilderberg-esque veil of mystery on Sea Island, off the coast of the state of Georgia.

From the Republican establishment, influential policy adivsior Karl Rove, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan attended, to name but a few, with the private sphere represented by the likes of New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger.

Huffington Post reports that their discussions focused on how exactly Trump has become the frontrunner for the Republican candidacy and what can be done to halt his momentum.

A presentation by Rove apparently saw the former senior adviser to George W. Bush identify Trump’s major weakness as the fact that people find it difficult to see him as “presidential” or a good role model. Concerns were raised about Trump having power over the US’s nuclear policy.

Trump has done little to ingratiate himself with the most powerful figures in Silicon Valley, attacking Apple over their dispute with the FBI as well as the fact they manufacture products in China. His campaign website also took aim at Mark Zuckerberg’s supposed allegiance to Marco Rubio, who is now very much an underdog in the Republican race.
