Gardaí are continuing to search for a final youth following the escape on Monday night
Oberstown Children’s Detention Centre has confirmed that one of the young people that escaped from the facility has been located by gardaí.
Two inmates escaped the facility on Monday night, while a third was apprehended before leaving the campus.
In a statement this morning, Oberstown confirmed that one of the youths has now been located and is being returned to the facility.
Gardaí are continuing to search for the second person.
Yesterday, management at the facility confirmed that a “serious incident” had occurred at the centre on Monday night.
Three boys locked themselves into a room at the facility during an incident, in which the director of Oberstown received an injury.
Children’s Minster Katherine Zappone confirmed three young people had taken over a staff office before absconding.
This morning Oberstown said that, as the incident remains a live investigation, they are “unable to share any further detail.”
