A newlywed couple from Northern Ireland have been found dead on a beach in South Africa.
The victims John Rodgers, 28, and his new wife Lynette, 26, had gone for a swim on Friday, shortly after arriving in Plettenberg Bay on holiday, according to South Africa's National Sea Rescue Institute.
Mr Rogers' body was found in shallow surf on Robberg Beach by a local around 6pm the same day and his wife's body was found by two women strolling along the beach 200m from where the couple had gone missing.
Despite efforts to revive them, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The NSRI said the couple are thought to have drowned.
They added: "Sea conditions were rough with strong rip-currents in the vicinity.
"The bodies have been handed into the care of the forensic pathology services."
A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed the deaths and said they are "providing assistance to both families at this extremely difficult time."
