Independent Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae was hospitalised last night after a run-in with a cow.

It is understood he was injured while working with cattle on the family farm.

The Irish Independent says the 49-year-old suffered minor injuries in the incident, which happened around 6.00pm.

Reports indicate he may have been kicked and then attacked by the animal.

He was able to get away, but taken to hospital to have his injuries assessed.
