Theresa May has said that Donald Trump's lewd remarks about women were "unacceptable", ahead of meeting with him this spring.
Speaking in her first TV interview of the year, British Prime Minister May was critical of previous comments made by the President-elect, but pointed out that he had since apologised for them.
Responding to doubts cast over Mr Trump's stance on NATO, Mrs May also said she believed the US remained "fully committed" to the military alliance.
Mr Trump has tweeted he was "very much" looking forward to meeting her, adding that he considered Britain to be "very special".
Although the President-elect and Mrs May are due to meet in Washington in the coming month, a date for the meeting is yet to be announced. It is expected to come within weeks of Mr Trump's inauguration on 20th January.
In his tweet, Mr Trump acknowledged Britain was "a longtime US ally," a signal that the "special relationship" between the two counties will be maintained under his administration.
Mr Trump's warm words will be welcomed by Downing Street after so much of the spotlight falling on his relationship former UKIP leader Nigel Farage.
Mrs May's relationship with the White House is seen as key as Britain prepares to leave the EU and redefines its position in the world.
The two leaders are understood to have spoken twice since Mr Trump's election victory in November, while Mrs May's closest advisers travelled to the US in December to build links with the President-elect's team.
