#HomeToVote gets a new home at Twitter headquarters in the US

As Ireland was gearing up for the marriage equality referendum, thousands and thousands of people were coming home to vote.

The campaign saw the hashtag 'HomeToVote' takeover social media site, Twitter.

In the lead up to polling day on May 22nd, the phrase was tweeted some 27,000 times in 24 hours.

This meant there were about 97 tweets a minute talking about #HomeToVote.

But now, Twitter headquarters in San Francisco is paying homage to this - by painting it on a wall of the building.

The head of Twitter in Ireland, Stephen McIntyre, said: "Once in a while we put a globally significant hashtag on our wall in San Fran HQ."
