Buying a home is a big decision, but buying a piece of history is even bigger.

A property in the US known as 'The Beverly House' has gone on the market, with a reported US$195m (€174.8m) price tag.

It was formerly owned by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and Marion Davies.

Jacqueline and John F Kennedy honeymooned at the property.

While the estate was also used in films such as 'The Godfather' and 'The Bodyguard'.

It will also be featured in a new film, to be released during 2017.

Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, it has more than 3.5 acres of land.

It has a total of 19 to 21 bedrooms and suites - depending on use of certain rooms.

It also boasts a large swimming pool, lighted tennis court, a two-story library, terraces to accommodate 400 or more guests for a seated dinner and grounds to accommodate more than 1,000 people.

The Wall Street Journal says its listing of US$195m (€174.8m) is up 18% from its last formal listing price of US$165m (€147.9m) in 2007.
