A man shot by police in Brussels has been charged with membership of a terror group following a raid in France last week.

Belgian prosecutors named him as A. Abderrahmane who was detained on Saturday for a further 24 hours after being shot during a raid in the Brussels district of Schaerbeek.

He was shot and arrested at a tram stop in Brussels on Friday.

It follows the detention of an Algerian suspect sought by Belgian investigators in southern Italy last night.

Djamal Eddine Ouali was arrested by armed anti-terrorism police in the Salerno area, just south of Naples.

Italian police say the man is suspected of forging documents for the jihadi network behind the Brussels and Paris attacks.

Belgian press agency Belga said Abderrahmane is charged in connection with a raid in France that authorities say foiled an apparent attack plot.

The plot has been linked to the attack on the Belgian capital Brussels last week that left 31 people dead.

Another man named as Rabah N. was charged on Saturday with membership of a terror group in connection with the arrest of Reda Kriket near Paris on Thursday.

Police found arms and explosives in a flat Kriket was using.
