Gardaí are investigating after the discovery of a man with serious head injuries in Dublin.

The man in his 20s was found on the Skerries/Rush road around 2km from Loughshinney in the early hours of this morning.

He has been removed to Beaumont Hospital and is said to be in a serious condition.

Gardai in Balbriggan are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

They are reported to be working to establish if the man was a victim of a hit-and-run.

Cathal McMahon, journalist with Independent.ie, said some debris, believed to be from a vehicle, was discovered near the scene.
