The body of missing student Michael Bugler has been found in Galway.

Galway RNLI recovered the body from the waters at Renville in Oranmore this afternoon.

The law student at NUIG - who was from Co Clare - had been missing since the 18th of December, and was last seen in the Quay Street area of the city.

Hundreds of people had taken part in searches for him over the past three weeks.

His sister Laura thanked all those involved in a Facebook post this evening.

She also said her and her family were relieved to have Michael home.
