The countrywide closures include businesses serving a range of dishes - from fish & chips to Mexican cuisine
Five food businesses were closed for breaches of food safety legislation in February, according to the Food Safety Authority (FSAI).
The closures were issued in Dublin, Limerick, Louth and Tipperary.
Among the businesses closed were a Mexican restaurant and a pizza take away.
Three closure orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998:
Two closure orders, meanwhile, were served under EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010:
Dr Pamela Byrne, Chief Executive of the FSAI, said: “Closure Orders, regardless of the legislation under which they were served, indicate that not all food businesses are complying with the law and as a result, are potentially putting consumers’ health at serious risk.
"It is highly important that food businesses have a strong food safety culture in their business, which can be achieved through ongoing training of all members of their team."
