The family of Clodagh Cogley, the Irish student seriously injured in the Berkeley balcony collapse, have posted the first public pictures of her recovery in San Francisco.

Clodagh Cogley suffered a broken spinal cord, two collapsed lungs, a broken shoulder and knee and five broken ribs when the balcony at the apartment complex collapsed, killing six people and injuring a further seven. She has said she may not walk again.

Several days after the accident Clodagh posted a message on Facebook, saying she would honour those who had died in the collapse by "living the happiest and most fulfilling life possible". Her message went viral, with its powerful words spreading globally and hailed as inspirational.

Posting on the Facebook page of the Clodagh Cogley Fund - a fund set up to help support the 21-year-old's recovery - Clodagh's supporters said:

"Clodagh and her family would like to thank everyone for all their support and good wishes," the mesage said.

"The outpouring of support for Clodagh has been truly amazing and the donations to Clodagh's fund so generous.

"We'll be using this page to post updates on how Clodagh (and her famous therapy dog!) are doing, as well as updates on the fund and how donations are being spent.

"Once again a big, big thank for all your support and generosity."

This picture was posted with the message: "Lovely new photo of Clodagh working hard and making great progress. And sporting a new hairstyle! We all love you Clodagh and miss you. See you soon!"
