Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Cork.

It happened on the Ballincollig bypass at around 12.25pm Sunday.

A male cyclist, aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision with a 4 X 4 vehicle.

The driver of the 4 X 4 was uninjured.

The road is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene.

The local coroner has been notified.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses - and asking anyone with information to contact Gurranabraher garda station 021-494-6200, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
