Claudio Ranieri says any talk of bringing footballing icon Francesco Totti to Leicester in the summer is sheer speculation.

Totti, who is out of contract in the summer, has had to endure a difficult relationship with manager Luciano Spalletti and looks to be on his way out of the club come the end of the season.

The Serie A stalwart, who has made almost 600 appearances for the club and scored 245 goals, turns 40 in September.

“Could Totti come to Leicester? It’s just speculation,” Ranieri said after Leicester defeated Swansea City 4-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

"Totti is Roma and Roma are Totti. And Totti is, and will, continue to be very useful to Roma.”

Ranieri managed Totti during his time in charge of Roma and European football correspondent Ben Lyttleton told  Off The Ball last week that his relationship with his current manager Spalletti has worsened over the last few months.

"Spalletti was said to have shouted at Totti and all sorts of stories came out about physical confrontations. One Roma based website claimed he told his players that they had been 'looking like fools' for the last ten years."

Totti has only started two games this season for Roma, but has twice come off the bench in recent weeks to rescue a point at Atlanta before scoring twice to help Roma beat Torino.
