Donald Trump has appealed to African-American voters to opt for change and back him in the election in November.
On Friday, after accepting the resignation of his campaign manager Paul Manafort and touring the areas affected by flooding in Louisiana, Trump flew to Michigan to deliver a speech at a rally.
With his eyes on the general election, and the poll numbers which show him pulling in around only 2% of African-American voters, trailing both Gary Johnson and Jill Stein, he made an appeal for voters to back him and try a new leader.
Calling for a change, Trump said a "new future requires brand new leadership, look how much African-American communities have suffered under Democratic control. To those I say the following: What do you have to lose by trying something new, like Trump. What do you have to lose?
"I say it again, what do you have to lose? Look, what do you have to lose? You're living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58% of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose?"
Trump also claimed that his administration would work harder for African-American voters than that of his rival.
"At the end of four years, I guarantee you that I will get over 95% of the African-American vote," said Trump, "I promise you. Because I will produce for the inner cities, and I will produce for the African Americans. The Democrats will not produce, and all they've done is taken advantage of your vote.
"One thing we know for sure is that if you keep voting for the same people you will keep getting the same, exactly the same result."
Hillary Clinton's campaign hit back, slamming Trump for his claims, while her Twitter account retweeted a number of messages which were critical of his previous record, which included being one of the most high-profile figures of the so-called "birthers" movement, claiming that Barack Obama had been born in Kenya.
Trump questions the citizenship of the first black president, courts white supremacists, and has been sued for housing discrimination.

Clinton also took to Twitter to state that Trump's remarks were "so ignorant it's staggering".
