The Abortion Rights Campaign group says laws here surrounding abortions are inhumane.

It comes as a case of a pregnant woman being kept on life support is due to be brought before the High Court next Tuesday.

The woman is clinically dead and is 17 weeks pregnant.

It is understood the woman is being kept alive against the wishes of her parents, after the woman suffered catastrophic internal injuries due to a blood clot.

A case was presented in the High Court on Monday December 15th in relation to the continuance or not of life support for a pregnant woman.

The President of the High Court adjourned the matter until December 23rd.

Cathleen Doherty is a member of the Abortion Rights Campaign. She says abortion laws here aren't fit to deal with a case of this kind.

Yesterday, the Taoiseach said he has no intention of offering a "knee-jerk reaction" to the case.

Enda Kenny said the first priority must be to acknowledge the trauma being experienced by the family of the woman.

While the Health Minister Leo Varadkar said there should be no rush to change the law on abortion.
