A search for a missing person has been called off in light of the discovery
A body has been recovered from the water near Diamond Rocks in County Clare this evening.
Doolin Coast Guard had been carrying out a search operation for a missing person in the Killkee area when they'd recovered the body from the water.
The body has not yet been formally identified and has been handed over to Gardaí and the HSE for a post mortem examination.
It is understood that the search for the missing person has now been stood down, and may be related to the death of Caitriona Lucas, the 41-year-old Coast Guard volunteer died during a search and recovery operation off the Kilkee coast on earlier this month, when the boat she was in capsized.
The mother-of-two was the first serving member of the Irish Coast Guard to lose her life while on duty.
