Apple have this evening confirmed what leaks told us weeks ago; there’s a new 4-inch phone and iPad Pro on the way into stores shortly. Apple CEO Tim Cook also took the opportunity of the product launch event to address the ongoing battle with the FBI.

The event took place at Apple HQ and was considerably smaller than previous launches. Things kicked off at 5pm Irish time, with this video:

Cook told the invited audience and viewers at home that Apple will celebrate its 40th birthday on April 1st. They have also just past the 1 billion product landmark. Not bad going.

So what’s new?

A number of products were unveiled to the world, and it seems that the leaks were bang on. Apple’s iPhone SE is modelled upon the 5S and has many of the features of a 6S. Two models are available: 16GB at $399 and 64GB at $499. They’ll be available to preorder from March 24th and available from March 31st.

A smaller iPad Pro was also introduced. This device has a 9.7-inch screen and supports the “pro accessories” such as the keyboard and Apple Pencil. The device runs the same A9X chip as the larger iPad Pro. It’s going to be pricey though; $599 for the 32GB version. Larger models are available at 128GB for $749 and 256GB for $899. It begins shipping on the 31st of March.

iOS 9.3 launches today. Features include Night Shift, which makes the screen warmer in colour as the night draws in. It also gives users a number of new ways to view their health data.
