The scene was preserved and technically examined, and an incident room has been set up at Terenure garda station.

House to house enquiries are also being carried out.

The suspected offender is described as being male, aged between 40 to 50 years, of average height with short hair.

He has a very thin face, pock marked complexion and pale skin. He was clean shaven and spoke with an Irish accent.

He was wearing black clothing and possibly a sleevless jacket - and he also wore a dark coloured baseball cap and dark sunglasses throughout the incident.

The man received a number of scratches to his face during the incident and a cut to his right index finger.

Gardaí say these wounds should still be fresh.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact then at Terenure garda station on 01-6666-400, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
