Liam Toland believes Ireland's chances of success against Argentina lie in the second row and back row.

Liam was speaking on Wednesday Night Rugby sponsored by Eir Sport.

"The one place that Argentina came worse in the statistics is the scrum. They were 79% scrums won versus New Zealand at 100% - that's unheard of.

But the two areas they are still strong are metres gained and defenders beaten - they are second only to New Zealand on those two fronts. They still provide an enormous threat, which brings Ireland's team selection into play.

If you look at the second rows, James Ryan has to start, with a back row that would be Peter O'Mahony, Sean O'Brien if fit and CJ Stander. The question then is who you pair with Ryan."

Liam believes that the line-out selection is key.

"There is a lot of talk about the line-out. Line-out management is the most important part - Ryan is capable of doing that.

[Devin] Toner might manage the line-out, and he has a huge nuisance factor in the line-out and defending on the deck.

From a line-put point of view, Peter O'Mahony, Tadhg Beirne and James Ryan are more than capable and competent of being world-class line-outs.

I don't think the selection comes down to who can get their hands in the air highest, because Peter O'Mahony wins that.

The selection goes around who can actually be such a nuisance around the breakdown, and slow down the recycle to prevent the Argentinians.

One of the key areas is the scrum, but have you got a second row and a back row capable of stopping them on the gain line, cutting them down and stealing the ball or getting a penalty.
