Conor McManus, Ciaran Lyng, Mickey Burke and Eamonn Callaghan were the guests on The Saturday Panel on Off the Ball.

The discussion soon turned to concerns about common injuries in GAA and, in particular, hip injuries.

Given that he has suffered from hip trouble in the past and asked if it was worrying, Wexford's Lyng said: "It is yeah, I went out to Eanna Falvey as well. I think a lot of the inter-county players are going there out in Santry and he was basically saying: 'you know, you can do all the rehab and get it right but when you go in the box in 40 or 50 years time - your hip is going to be completely deteriorated', so, from that perspective...but you don't worry about that when you're playing at all obviously because you want to get the most out of it."

"My initial problem was the hip the whole time," said Eamonn Callaghan, adding "I was getting groin injuries the whole time and my groins kept tearing and tearing and I got two operations in my groin and I ended up getting the hip looked at in the end and after that then, I went down to Dr. Carton down in Waterford and literally was plagued for three years with groin injuries.

"And, once I got that, it was a three month lay-off but literally since I came back - I haven't had one issue with my groin and that was three years ago. So, for me, it (operation) worked 100% and at that time I was willing to do anything at all just to get rid of the groin pain and the groin injuries," he added.

Monaghan's Conor McManus also talked about his injury hips, saying: "Yeah, it's something that's there, it has been for a number of years now and you just manage it as best you can.

"I had surgery back on it in 2011 - it wasn't overly successful. You still have to do the rehab anyway regardless of whether you get the surgery or not so that's where I'm at with it know.

"I have it I the other hip as well and it's just something you manage."
