Two million people took to the streets of Paris to show solidarity after the terror and murder of 17 people. In Dublin the Irish French community came out to march in silence from the Spire to Alliance Francaise. The organisers were expecting about 200 but 5000 people showed up. Young and old held up pens and pencils and 'Je Suis Charlie' signs. The crowd told me why they felt they had to come. I have never been on a silent march before, it was poignant and powerful. French and Irish children held up pencils and some people cried. The French Ambassador thanked the huge support and talked about liberty and solidarity.
