Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin felt they couldn't wait for the new Children's hospital to be built on the St James's site because sick kids can't wait another 10 years so went ahead renovating the falling down 1950s building.
I visited to see the progress so far, the heart centre and the cancer ward have been transformed but the hospital still needs another €2 million to bring it up to international standards.
I met the kids, parents and nurses and witnessed the great work Crumlin Childrens Hospital do.
