Ulster head coach Dan McFarland says it'll take time to get over their Challenge Cup semi-final loss at Leicester.

The northern province led 17-9 at half-time thanks to tries from Iain Henderson and Billy Burns and seven points from the boot of John Cooney.

Bit their grip on the game slipped after an injury to Ireland international Cooney early in the second half.

Jasper Wiese, Ellis Genge and Guy Porter went over for second-half tries for the Tigers, as they reached a first European final since 2009.

"We don't move on from this quickly," McFarland said after last night's game at Welford Road.

"That was a chance to be in a European final. I'd be really disappointed with the situation that we're in.

"We demonstrated in the first half that when we were able to execute we were by far the better team.

"Their kicking game was superb throughout the game, ours dropped off, and as a consequence, they won the match. We're not recovering from that quickly."

While Leicester boss Steve Borthwick was delighted by his side's showing after the interval.

I think that in the first half we were very poor. We were completely outplayed by a very good Ulster team, there was a couple of glimpses of some things with some opportunities, there’s a couple of things we needed to change tactically.

“I think we saw enough of that in the first half, there wasn’t much, but there was enough to go at half-time this is a better picture for us to follow.
