Conor McCormack has re-joined Derry City ahead of the new SSE Airtricity League season.

The midfielder has signed a two-year contract with the Candystripes after a three-season stint at Cork City.

The 29-year-old won the league and the FAI Cup on Leeside and previously won the league with Shamrock Rovers in 2011.

The Louth man was on the books of Manchester United as a youth player and also spent time in Italy with Serie B side Triestina.

McCormack says he loved his previous spell at the Brandywell and that it was a big factor in his decision to move there again.

"I'm really looking forward to the season already and I'm sure we will do fantastic this year," he told Derry City's official website.

"There has been a lot of change since the last time I played here so you have to give credit to the club and the places that they want to go.

"Declan and his team did well last season so hopefully we can build on that and I'm looking forward to being part of his plans.

"I knew I was leaving Cork and I enjoyed Derry City the last time I was here so that was a big factor."
