France and New Zealand went toe to toe yesterday evening in the first match in what promises to be one of the most hotly contested Rugby World Cups ever.

Ireland too, is shaping up to be one of the top contenders and indeed, one of France's biggest threats, but the current rivalry belies a history of cooperation and friendship – one that looks set to continue.
