Should Ireland legalise euthanasia?

Earlier this week the highest court in Germany ruled that a 2015 law banning professional assisted suicide was unconstitutional, as it robbed terminally ill patients of the right to a self determined death. 

Portugal is also one step closer to legalising euthanasia after lawmakers there approved a number of bills which opens the door to the next phase. 

Currently both euthanasia and assisted suicide are illegal under Irish law but a poll carried out late last year showed the majority of people in Ireland would support the legalisation of euthanasia here. 

Susan was joined now by Tom Curran - who is the widower of right to die campaigner Marie Fleming.
