If you went for a job interview and they said there was no maternity leave, you'd walk out right?

Well politicians in Ireland are not entitled to any automatic maternity leave and special arrangements need to be made whenever a female TD, Senator or Councillor gets pregnant.

But why is the system like this? And is there any sign of change?
