The late author John Le Carré famous for his espionage and spy novels gained Irish citizenship before he died due to his frustration over Brexit.

Mr Le Carre traced his grandparents' link  to gain an Irish passport.

This comes as figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs show from 2016 to 2020 422,000 Irish passports were issued to addresses in the UK.

Reporter Josh Crosbie has been speaking to people from the UK who are trying to secure Irish citizenship.
