Independent Senator, David Norris has today announced his retirement from politics. David is the longest-serving senator in Irish History.

As a politician, he was hugely influential in gaining rights for the gay community in Ireland challenging the Irish court's ban on Homosexuality.

He also ran for president in 1987 and was widely appreciated for his commitment to politics.

David took the time to sit down with Kieran to say why now was the right time for retirement.
